Attendance
Absence through illness
Schools must keep a record of the reason for every absence, so we ask that you make a telephone call to us on the first day your child is absent and each subsequent day. If we have not heard the reason for an absence by 9.20am on the first day of absence; we will contact you to find out the reason for their absence. If we have no reason for an absence, it may be classed as ‘unauthorised’.
Any child arriving after the register closes at 9.20am will be marked in as a U code, which counts as an unauthorised absence.
Please read our Attendance Policy for more information.
Other Absence
The Department for Education has published amendments to The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006. The school has a legal duty to enforce them. The amendments make clear that Headteachers may not grant ANY leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Headteachers will no longer be able to permit family holidays or extended leave. Any leave of absence taken during term time will be unauthorised and subject to a Fixed Penalty Notice (fine) issued by the Local Authority. The changes take effect from 1st September 2013 and apply to all schools in England.
